Sinclair announced they will bring the show back to their ABC stations on Friday, September 26, reports CNBC.

In a statement, Sinclair said, “Over the last week, we have received thoughtful feedback from viewers, advertisers, and community leaders representing a wide range of perspectives. We have also witnessed troubling acts of violence, including the despicable incident of a shooting at an ABC affiliate station in Sacramento. These events underscore why responsible broadcasting matters and why respectful dialogue between differing voices remains so important.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to the air on Tuesday and Sinclair announced they would still preempt the show.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! was suspended indefinitely starting on September 17, 2025, following a comment by the host about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Kimmel said during the show, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

Nexstar, which owns about 30 ABC stations, continues to preempt the show.
