A new Simpsons movie will be released in the summer of 2027, taking over a date previously held for a Marvel film.

Disney has set the new Simpsons film for release on July 23, 2027, Deadline reports. They previously had this date reserved for an untitled Marvel film, but that has been removed from the schedule.
The original The Simpsons Movie was released in July 2007. 20th Century Fox announced a sequel was in the works in 2018, before Disney acquired the company. The second film will ultimately be released 20 years after the first. The Simpsons Movie had a worldwide box office of $536.4 million.
Marvel will still have a film releasing in 2027. Avengers: Secret Wars is slated for release on December 17, 2027.
This is not the first time the Marvel film release schedule has been shuffled in the past few months. Avengers: Doomsday, which was originally scheduled to premiere on May 1, 2026, was pushed back to December 18, 2026. Likewise, the sequel Avengers: Secret Wars was pushed back from May 7, 2027, to December 17, 2027. With the adjusted calendar, the newest Spider-Man film, titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will premiere before both Avengers films on July 31, 2026.
