Crews are making progress on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom, including some adjustments to the rockwork in the queue.
Queue Rockwork

Refurbishment crews are visible today in Frontierland as they continue working on the queue for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Compared to some of the earlier refurbishment stages, there has been a lot more activity in the queue area over the past few weeks.
In the photo above, you can see crew members adding texture to some rockwork. Some of the rocks have yet to be painted in a few spots, as can be seen on the gray areas above the usual brown color.
Scaffolding and Ride Vehicles

On the left side, large portions of the building that houses the queue lines are covered in scaffolding.

Refurbishment materials lay around the area as crews continue to focus on this part of the attraction.

The scaffolding extends up above the roof and around toward the back.

It appears the tallest mountain spire that had scaffolding on it several weeks ago is now empty, so some of the scaffolding may have been removed.

Ride vehicles can also be seen in the new barn structure where maintenance will be completed.
One train is parked right outside the garage, and another train is already parked inside. It’s a bit hard to see behind the trees and fencing, but you can see the brown train parked outside the garage.
Refurbishment Timeline and Details

The Disney World website recently updated the description for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, though a reference to exploding dynamite was later removed. There will be a new opening scene with trains entering the Rainbow Caverns, and Disney has teased more updates to be announced at a later date
At this time, we do not have an opening date for the attraction, other than that it will reopen sometime in 2026.
