A magical new opening experience is available for select guests at World of Disney in Disney Springs each morning.
World of Disney Opening Ceremony
Reminiscent of the daily Disney Store openings of the past, World of Disney is now offering a special experience to one guest who rope drops the store in Disney Springs. Upon arrival, the “lock” was covered with a protective case just in front of the roped-off doors.
The current “lock” is Halloween-themed with a large gray key box, a Mickey Mouse icon pumpkin, and a green base covered in bats. With the Halloween season in full swing at Walt Disney World, the announcement surrounding the experience is Haunted Mansion themed.
Nearby Cast Members explained that the plan for the ceremony is for it to change based on the current season, so the lock podium and announcement will likely swap to something new at the beginning of November once Halloween is complete.
One guest is chosen by the Cast Members to “open” the World of Disney store for the day. The large key has a Disney “D” handle, and the opposite side is shaped like a castle. The middle section lights up with colored stars. The large key resembles the limited edition version of the Disneyland 70th anniversary key, now available at Disneyland Park.
Cast Members select a guest (usually a child or family) to use the key to “open” the store. After turning the key in the oversized lock, the doors open to reveal a red carpet. Cast Members welcome guests with bubble wands, waves, and smiles.

According to the Cast Members, the morning opening ceremony is planned to be a daily offering through at least the next year. It happens every morning, not just on weekends.
The selected guest will receive an “I unlocked the magic at World of Disney” commemorative card with an image of the key and quote from Walt Disney, stating “It takes people to make the dream a reality.” The card also has a golden “own the magic” sticker.
