A Central Florida woman is suing Universal, claiming she was injured on Stardust Racers at Epic Universe, the same coaster where a man was found unresponsive and later proclaimed dead.
Stardust Racers Lawsuit

According to WESH 2, 49-year-old Sandi Streets states the coaster caused her head to shake violently and slam against the headrest. She alleges that Universal failed to properly restrain her head.
Streets visited Epic Universe on April 30, 2025, during previews about three weeks before the park’s official opening.
The law firm Spetsas-Buist filed the lawsuit on her behalf and is asking for a jury trial to decide how much Universal should compensate Streets for her alleged injuries.
Universal did not respond to WESH 2’s request for comment.

The lawsuit comes one week after 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala died of “multiple blunt impact injuries” after riding Stardust Racers. On the evening of September 17, Zavala was unconscious at the end of the ride and had CPR performed on him in the park. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead shortly after 10 p.m.
Universal said the ride system was functioning correctly and Team Members followed procedures. However, Orange County deputies are investigating the death under Florida’s manslaughter statute. Zavala’s family has hired famous civil rights attorney Ben Crump to represent them but have not filed a suit against Universal.
Stardust Racers remains closed during the investigation.
