An Epic Universe guest passed away Wednesday night after riding the Stardust Racers roller coaster, according to NBC affiliate WESH 2.

Universal confirmed in a statement that the individual was discovered unresponsive following the ride and was transported to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
Orange County Fire Rescue Department identified the individual as an adult male.
A Universal spokesperson gave this statement to WESH 2.
Universal is cooperating with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office following a tragic event involving a guest at Epic Universe on Wednesday night. The guest became unresponsive after riding Stardust Racers and was transported to the hospital, where the guest later died. We are devastated by this event and extend our sincerest sympathies to the guest’s loved ones. We are fully committed to cooperating with this ongoing investigation. The attraction remains closed.

Stardust Racers is a dual launched coaster manufactured by Mack Rides. Both sides have 5,000 feet of track and a maximum height of 133 feet. It reaches 62 mph. The height requirement is 48 inches.

We confirmed that the ride is closed on Thursday, September 18.
