The last original theme park creation was Everest at Animal Kingdom which opened in 2006. I have to assume it was green lit in the 2000-2004 range. Had this kind of thinking guided attractions, we wouldn’t have Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Big Thunder, Everest, Spaceship Earth, Soarin, Test Track and so many others.
