Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park has reopened to guests today, following a four-month refurbishment and a few weather delays.
Typhoon Lagoon originally closed for a refurbishment on November 13, 2022, when Blizzard Beach reopened with “Frozen” theming. Blizzard Beach has now closed for another refurbishment this week, meaning the two water parks will continue in the streak of not operating simultaneously that began when the Covid-19 pandemic forced both to close in 2020.
Themed as the ruins of a tropical paradise that was hit by an unbelievable typhoon and tidal wave, features eleven water-based attractions and a number of snack stands, bars, and interactive play features.
Whether guests were looking to cool off at Typhoon Lagoon’s Surf Pool, the largest wave pool in North America, or they sought out the thrill of the Crush ‘N’ Gusher water coaster, the reopening of Typhoon Lagoon was met with comfortable temperatures and tolerable crowds.
H2O Glow After Hours events are set to return to Typhoon Lagoon this May. Special appearances from rare Disney characters, dance parties, complimentary snacks and beverages, and lower wait times are sure to draw in nighttime crowds as temperatures rise in Florida. Tickets are on sale now.
The water park was originally set to reopen on March 19, but due to inclement weather forecasts, Disney pushed the reopening back by one day, at first, and then delayed things a second day for the same reason. The local water parks typically do not operate unless the temperatures are above 70°F.
Guests were able to enjoy some extra time at the popular water park today with newly announced extended hours. Through March 26, the park will stay open for an extra hour. The new posted hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
No official date has been announced for the reopening of the Blizzard Beach water park.
