Work for the transformation to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure continues as more Splash Mountain elements are removed from the attraction. This morning, we arrived to find that the main Splash Mountain sign, the Br’ers Statue, and more have been removed.
The main sign reading “Splash Mountain” with Br’er Rabbit on top is gone.
The small sign over the stand by entrance remains for now.
Just to the right is the place where a statue of Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Bear, and Br’er Fox used to stand. It has also been removed.
Likewise, the sign for the Briar Patch gift shop has been removed.
The section of rockwork that was demolished is largely the same. Wooden boxes have been added, seemingly over the exposed mechanics we spotted earlier this week. The scaffolds are still in place as well.
The birdhouses were removed from the queue last week. Splash Mountain references have also been removed from the Walt Disney World Railroad and the Liberty Square Riverboat.
The Laughing Place sign has been removed from the nearby play area, which otherwise remains open at this time. The pressed penny machine featuring Splash Mountain designs was removed initially but has since been relocated.
Splash Mountain closed permanently last month at Walt Disney World and will close at Disneyland later this year. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to replace the attraction in 2024. Read our complete history of Splash Mountain for a look back at the classic log flume ride.
Disney says that in the upcoming attraction, guests will “join Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louis during Mardi Gras season as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind celebration for the people of New Orleans.”
The attraction takes place after the events of “The Princess and the Frog.” Tiana’s Foods is an employee-owned community food co-op established by Tiana in 1927, following the success of her restaurant, Tiana’s Palace. The co-op is housed inside a salt mine, with growers planting crops along the old Splash Mountain waterway. Guests will ascend through a mill house built into the side of the mountain.
