The tower atop the future Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers, which was previously the ESPN Club, is being deconstructed.
The walls of the tower were removed last month. Since then, pieces of the tower’s framework have been removed, including the entire ceiling and one of the eight sides.
A crane leans over the tower to remove more elements.
Wall paneling and the ESPN Club sign were removed from the old entrance to the building.
The Cake Bake Shop will include a quick-service bakery and table-service restaurant with separate entrances. The old ESPN Club entrance will lead to the bakery.
The basic structure of the building will remain for the Cake Bake Shop, but much of it has to be torn down before actual construction can begin.
The concept art above shows how the refurbished building will be covered in windows and lights. Planters will line an outdoor seating area.
The Cake Bake Shop is scheduled to open sometime this year.
