The bill to create a government-controlled version of the Reedy Creek Improvement District has been filed after the special session concluded this afternoon.
It includes the intent to rename the district to the “Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.” The dissolution of Reedy Creek was set to take place this June in accordance with the bill already signed to law by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, but the bill confirms that it will not be dissolved.
“For a transitional period of no longer than 2 years from the effective date of this act, the district may continue doing business using “Reedy Creek Improvement District” as a fictitious name in order to provide sufficient time for the district to make the necessary name change on or to records, contracts, bonds, accounts, physical assets, and wherever else the district’s name is used.”
