For nearly three years, guests have not been able to venture down to Ariel’s Grotto in Fantasyland and become part of her world in the special meet and greet space. That is until today when the fathoms below finally reopened to guests!
Ariel’s Grotto Meet and Greet
The entrance is next to Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid. We arrived early this morning, and the wait time sign read “TST” for test. A Lightning Lane sign was also added just a few days ago.
The queue brings you into the caves with flower lights blooming overhead.
Inside the grotto, the ceiling has cutouts in the rockwork, showing guests that they’ve entered an undersea cavern.
Ariel, in her mermaid form, sits on a clamshell couch surrounded by seaweed.
Some of Ariel’s treasure is on display.
An automated PhotoPass machine was in place but not operational, and so no PhotoPass services were available. A Cast Member was there to take photos with guests’ phones instead.

Another meet and greet that has been closed for three years, Enchanted Tales With Belle, will be reopening on February 19. Disney also recently posted a hiring ad for a look-alike for Halle Bailey’s live action Ariel.
